I have an Amex Blue Cash Everyday card. I received a promotion from Amex for statement credit if I add additional card to my account and spend $250 using new card.
If we add a member from account page, you do not get any credit so its an additional benefit.
The link is generic and it worked for another card that I have. After you login and provide additional member details, it will show the promotion on left side of page (screen shot attached):
