Great Japanese knife if you don’t need the longer 8" or 10" (neither of which are offered in the Asian Chef version). One of the sharpest production knives out of the box, lightweight, and perfectly center-balanced.

My opinion: Shun chef knives are some of my favorite knives for slicing through vegetables (and I have tried everything from Wusthof to high-end hand-forged )
MSRP effectively $139.95 (B&Ms show as $175) typical price appears to hover around $135. Quick research shows that it has only been $89 three times in the last 6 years, and was only lower than that (~$80) twice, the last time being 2015. Shun is also usually exempt from store sales and coupons. If you’re looking for Shun, now’s the time…
