PSA: Check your GNC gift cards.. you may need to have them re-issued.

Short Version: If you own a GNC gift card, use it ASAP!
Last year, in December, I bought a $50 E-gift certificate on GNC.COM. I had an AMEX offer for GNC and I figured I was getting $15 back so I can just sit on the gift card until a protein deal popped up on GNC.COM.
I kept monitoring GNC deals and nothing came up until CYBER MONDAY. I just wanted to get rid of it. I tried to checkout using the gift card, but there was no where to enter the gift card anywhere in their payment section. After talking to the CSR, I was told GNC.COM stopped accepting gift cards on their website for several months! WTF?!
I was told to go to the store to redeem it. As pissed as I was, I just wanted to get rid of this gift card at this point. I went to the store and guess what, the gift card I bought online directly through GNC.COM could not be used! The store said, they cannot key in gift card numbers, and that it has to be a physical gift card.
I was so livid these dirtbags were giving me such a hard time for a gift card I bought from them directly. When I called GNC back, they said they will exchange the gift card with a new one. I still haven’t received anything, and honestly I don’t trust them to follow through. If I don’t receive a replacement, I will be filing a small claims.
Its really fu(ked up that you can’t even use a gift card on their website. Their in-store deals are a total ripoff! They won’t even allow using gift cards through phone either! I think they may be close to filing bankruptcy and you’ll be SOL if you own any credits with this company.
I am just informing this forum members that there is something really shady going on with GNC. It would be in your best interest to deplete any gift cards or store credits with GNC ASAP! I read somewhere that about a week ago, they had to halt selling of their shares on the stock market due to a sell off .. not a good sign!
