I love KC tool, and have never been disappointed with a tool from them. They’re known for top quality hand tools, mostly from Germany, but I do not know this tool, and have never owned one by this maker (in the Czech Republic), so I can’t vouch for it personally. There are Amazon reviews of it, it’s rated 4.6 out of 5 for 186 reviews, but there are some bad reviews. It looks like some were defective, but some buyers just didn’t like this or that, and one just said he or she didn’t like the bits included. It does at least look like KC makes it easy to return tools if there’s a problem,
I was specifically looking for tools to include in an under-seat motorcycle tool kit where weight and bulk are at an extreme premium and versatility is critical. I have other similar tools (Wiha) that store bits in the handle, but they have maybe 16 bits, including Torx and some others I’d almost certainly never need for a motorcycle. This one is six bits and long and short shank lengths in one tool, probably everything you’d need in a screwdriver and nothing you don’t in a compact package that fits in a belt pouch. It uses standard 1/4" bits, so you can swap some if you have specialized needs, and the bit-holder shaft can be removed and chucked in a drill.
Here’s the deal, this MSRP shown on both KC Tool and Amazon is $53.61. Amazon currently (at this writing) has it for $42.13. For the holidays KC has it knocked down to $29… but it’s out of stock right now, and as they sometimes do in these cases if you add it to your cart it shows another discount, to $26.10. They say that they’re expecting it back in stock on December 14th, so it’s certainly not a big delay if you’re buying it for yourself. There is also currently a 10% discount code, "TOOLGUYD4LIFE", and that brings it down to $23.49. Shipping is currently free for purchase totals over $50, and it’s easy to get above that if you start looking at their tools, but without that the cheapest (slowest) option has been between $5 and $6 for me when ordering one tool at a time, not a ripoff.
I’m on the fence about this one myself, so any feedback on the brand or this specific tool is more than welcome.
