QNAP has a new version of this out called the TS-431P2. Everything is the same, except the memory is upgradeable. The original TS-431P comes with 1GB of memory which is enough to file serve and run some apps, but not a lot of apps at once. I have one of these and it’s been fantastic as an off-site remote backup server for my 8-Bay NAS. I have enabled volume encryption and the write speeds, despite the encryption, are excellent due to the hardware acceleration.
