Dental Work – Steep (~67%) Discounts at Yuma, AZ border town – RUMO Dental Group

Without dental insurance, I had deferred lots of dental work because I felt it was too expensive to have it done in the USA. I was thinking of going to Hungary, but while I was pondering that "dental tourism" trip…
My new girlfriend lives in Phoenix, and she had traveled with her son (who needed 4 root canals and 5 crowns) to Los Algodones, Mexico. It’s right across the border from Winterhaven, CA, which is a suburb of Yuma, AZ.
She already knew the drill (no pun intended) and had a great experience there and saved a ton of $$. So I had a free cleaning/exam with a dentist in Scottsdale to get an idea of what I was up against–turns out, their cost estimate was well over $25,000!
We got all of the following done over a 3-day weekend with Rumo Dental Group (would have taken MONTHS in the USA with a typical dentist, especially with referrals to endodontists and so forth)

We paid the following (you may have a slight YMMV) and we’ll put typical USA pricing in parentheses, also:
$1,000 ($3,000) Implant
100 (300-600) Extraction
300 (1,000+) Root Canal
400 (1,200-1,400) Crowns
200 (850) Abutment for Implant Crowns
150 (1,000-1,200) Deep Cleaning (scaling)
Basically, everything was 1/3 of the price or less (posts, build-ups, fillings).
This entire little border town is geared toward medical/dental tourism (vision, dermatology, but DENTAL is #1 because it’s so expensive in the USA and more people are without vision and dental insurance).
It’s clean, safe, modern, professional, and just about everyone speaks excellent English. You park your car in a secure lot for $6/day and walk two short blocks to the clinic upon crossing the border. You will need a passport or other approved crossing documents (Nexus, etc.).
Why RUMO? Because we went there, both dentists have specialized skills (perfect compliment to each other–Dr. Ruiz does extractions, implants, ortho, and more general dentistry and Dr. Morales handles root canals) and had the following in 2.5 days with NO PAIN, just some soreness:
3 extractions
3 implants (including bone grafts)
2 root canals
4 crowns
1 deep cleaning
3 posts & build-ups
40 x-rays (they check EVERYTHING as they go, so no surprises)
$4,850 TOTAL
We’ll go back and get my abutments and crowns for the implants ($1,650 total since we were given a discount on the above prices as a "volume" courtesy) in 4 months, but everything else was done in 2.5 days!
This town is super efficient when it comes to dental. They bicycle courier the crown molds to the lab a few blocks away, and completed crowns were delivered to my dentist that afternoon. Then after fitting and some fine-tuning they had to be re-polished while my teeth were being cleaned–so they were couriered BACK to the lab for final polishing and returned about 40 minutes later. It’s like a well-oiled machine–talk about customer service!
It’s like having a private dentist AND lab.
Also, we never felt like a number. The service is much more personalized than in the USA or at a larger clinic.
PM me if you want more info. They also have a US phone number on their website, or you can email them.
