Slick deal for some.
Wife and I are getting more involved in organized / charity bicycle events, typically ride 50 – 60 miles, also like to ride during vacation. Not a big fan of rentals when traveling, elite status (and credit cards) on American and Alaska Airlines means no baggage fees.
We started with cheap, 20" wheel folding bikes, which are adequate for shorter rides on flatter terrain. I then purchased a used Ritchey Breakaway on eBay, which is serving me quite well, but my wife was not riding enough to justify such an investment, she has been riding a used Schwinn Montague, which I picked up for ~$200. Montague is a well built bike, but quite heavy – almost 35 pounds, so I have been searching for a lighter alternative, stumbled on to the subject deal. Based on the weight, configuration and description, frame appears to be a true Breakaway clone, such frames alone sell new for more than $1k, new case sells for $250. Campagnolo Veloce groupset, Raleigh components, Chromoly fork and Weinmann wheels are okay for an entry level bicycle, which appear to be the primary difference with the Breakway, which is typically equipped with Ritchey components and Shimano Ultegra groupset (or better).
Takes a bit of learning (good online videos) to properly pack the Breakaway – typically takes me 20 – 30 minutes to assemble / disassemble and pack – but there is nothing like riding your own bike, which has been adjusted and tuned to your preferences.
Order shipped same day from a Southern California warehouse, despite vendor location in Sheboygan, WI, appears to have been drop shipped from distributor / manufacturer.
