Hey SD! First time post, and I think I got a real gem.
Found this while browsing for a new laptop on Costco’s website – I’ve been looking very thoroughly on their website for a new laptop for the past week and only came upon this today. I’m pretty sure this is recently added to their website. $400-500 cheaper than other reputable direct retailers carrying this ( Best Buy , B&H , Newegg ).
Just going off the specs alone – i7 8th gen, 16GB(!) RAM, 512GB( !!!!) SSD this is a very solid buy IMO. At this price point for thin-and-lights you’re usually looking at an 8gb, 256gb model. The original MSRP price point for this specific ASUS UX490 model and chassis is compared to Costco’s price is so low, I’m almost skeptical that this is a pricing error on Costco’s website. ~ $1000 will only get you the UX430 on non-sale market pricing which is a much less premium chassis which still uses plastic. I think this is a real gem. I’m strongly considering buying this over a $1300 HP Envy 13 which has the same specs but a dedicated Nvidia MX150 GPU which is the only reason I haven’t gone in on this deal. I’m definitely leaning towards this ASUS UX490UA because of the better reviews on chassis quality and screen and I don’t think the $300 premium is worth a dedicated GPU. Plus I like this chassis and form factor way more, but that’s just me.
