I have been looking for a starter condenser microphone for a while, and Guitar Center has a 25% off sale that applied to this particular microphone that I thought
was pretty good. It is XLR based, which means you will need 48V phantom power
to drive it — or your audio interface must be able to supply it.

Beside the "Patriot" color theme, It is basically a MXL990 (with -10dB pad) and
a 150Hz low cut switchable filter. It is an Cardioid pattern microphone with
6 micron gold-sputtered diaphragm. No shock mount, No plastic (foam enclosed) case is included, but does include a microphone clip. That is the trade-off you make versus a $99 version.
