Especially with the 1.2 m short cable attached (headphone comes with two cables), these are my favorite headphones to casually listen to around the house, especially since they can be driven by a portable mobile device.
These have addressed the lack of sub bass and anemic bass of the HD 558/598, while retaining the qualities that made that series so popular, and only sacrificing a little bit of soundstage spaciousness (still pretty wide). They have a slightly warm, pleasantly natural and musical sound signature. Very comfortable and can be worn for hours effortlessly. These also have a more durable headband compared the HD 598 regular/SE versions.
Good for gaming, movies and pretty much any music genre, even hip hop and EDM has satisfying oomph (comparing to Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm as a benchmark). But if your idea of good sound is Beats, maybe these aren’t for you…
