About this ebook

Part romance, part detective story, Sputnik Sweetheart tells the story of a tangled triangle of uniquely unrequited love.

Now with a new introduction from the author.

K is madly in love with his best friend, Sumire, but her devotion to a writerly life precludes her from any personal commitments. At least, that is, until she meets an older woman to whom she finds herself irresistibly drawn. When Sumire disappears from an island off the coast of Greece, K is solicited to join the search party—and finds himself drawn back into her world and beset by ominous visions. Subtle and haunting, Sputnik Sweetheart is a profound meditation on human longing.

I honestly think all Murakami's works are amazing, but this one I gotta say I quite don't like the abrupt ending. Could've been gone to a little more details before ending it at least (IMO). But overall it's a good story.

I found the story quite unique unfortunately I also felt it could have been better told. Don't get me wrong there were points the story just flowed. But the authors transisition in writing styles from past to present from narrative to 1st person etc, just happened so often it would throw me off. And pull me out of the story just as I got in.

Beautiful lush imagery and poinent unresolved mystery. A peek into a Japanese college students life. So good on so many levels. The prose is perfect.
