The Trimmer sells in store by itself for $199.99 so the Blower is essentially free. Yes the EGO String Trimmer is available for $199.99 or $159.99 without the power loader. And is superior, but I have had both these units in hand this weekend and the build quality is right behind the EGO and better than Kobalt, Craftsman Greenworks and others I found in store. An older non brushless version of this Ryobi was the runner up to EGO from the Wirecutter review I found.
The EGO is longer than the Ryobi which I didn’t like as I’m not that tall and I didn’t feel I could control the EGO as well as I would like especially since it would essentially be used as an Edger. That and because I have a compatible blower/Vac attachment from Troy Built (yes they work with Ryobi along with John Deere, Cub Cadet, Troy, Poulan, Poulan Pro, Weed Eater, Homelite, Craftsman, McCulloch, MTD Pro, YardMachine, and Yard Man)
So as a bonus I can sell the Blower that comes with this combo as a Tool only on CL and should get $50-60 or so for it. Since I don’t clear weeds on my property other than crabgrass in the Planters in between Vegetable season I don’t need the heavier duty performance and added $150 cost of adding on an EGO leaf Blower. YMMV based on your needs.
I ran a search or Ryobi and Home Depot and didn’t see this listed although a similar 18V combo deal was found
