Microcenter has the 2018 Macbook Air new in box for $820/$920 for the 128/256 GB devices. This is a $30/$80 drop from what they were for the last week. The 2019 models are $50/$200 more, but from everything I’ve read the 2018 is a better machine. The only upgrade worth noting on the 2019 is the keyboard for reliability, but the 4-year warranty on the keyboard will upgrade you to the 2019 version if you have a failure.
