This was a disappointment for "The Wrath of Khan" remake. Considering that The Wrath of Kahn was one of Star Trek's top movies this remake took a turn for the worst. Too many inconsistency for Trekkies. The movie was too HYPER in tone. Too much exaggeration in the story line. Khan's freakish abilities didn't sell me in this story. Spock's role in this series of movies has been very inconsistence... he is a 1/2 Vulcan who didn't purge his emotions. So, he should be able to function like the rest of everyone else in the movie. The orginal Spock had his emotions purged so he was naturally logical but at times he would get a little emotional.

This movie sucks as both a remake of Wrath of Khan and as a sequel to the reboot. Nothing was gained or lost in terms of character arc or narrative. Kirk comes off as a vindictive jerk. Spock's relationship with Ahura goes nowhere new. The reveal of Cumberbatch's Khan is both expected and extremely insulting. Finally, the twist with the admiral is just beyond stupid and out of left field. Go watch the real Wrath of Khan.

I think J.J. Abrams would make a great director for a film that was based off an action adventure Sci-Fi comedy novel. Stay away from our beloved franchises. Your 2009 Star Trek film was a fun film to watch, but it brought nothing new. Same goes for this film, only you ripped off The Wrath of Khan. And people actually expected The Force Awakens to be new and unique and different? I will say one thing, however: The Opening Scene was very well done.
