QNAP TS-x53D Series
Ideal for SOHO users and enthusiasts, this NAS offers a powerful yet easy-to-use solution for backing up, syncing and sharing files, streaming videos, and more. It's powered by an Intel quad-core processor, features dual 2.5GbE connectivity that has much higher throughput than 1GbE, and supports PCIe expansion for add-on cards (sold separately) of 10GbE, M.2 SSD for cache acceleration, or Wi-Fi 6. A built-in HDMI 2.0 connects to your 4K TV and directly plays media files stored on the NAS. Scalable storage lets you start small, and expand storage capacity with RAID or expansion enclosures (sold separately) as your data grows.

The base scenario of usage for documentation examples should FOCUS on stand-alone private-class C local network operation & configurations targeted to promote such FOCUS, not the user beat-down with multiple NAS ops, Remote Connections, Internet access & and other Enterprise facets. Most Enterprises would choose a more robust model to invest in.
Their Business Support was great! Shout Out to Roger Gonzales with Qnap in Pomona CA 91768 for his excellent business support during my purchasing of this product.
The hardware I purchased, NAS TD-253D is SOLID, low powered and responsive. Has SAMBA server built-in for file sharing with Linux, Windows, Apple & NFS clients. This is a great NAS! Packed it with 2-16TB Seagate SATA III hard drives Raid 1 setup, 12GB RAM. Easy to establish dual Gb/s NIC teaming to double bandwidth, not speed, to and from the unit. OS & App software updates are very timely and so far have occurred without any issues I am aware of as of 15 Dec 21. I purchased the extended
warranty out to 5 years from standard 3 years for only $99 US. Both Drives & NAS are now covered for 5 years. As long as you can handle discovering how to use the unit without Tech Support, I recommend this unit for home, or small business. If all else fails, it is easy to grab and save in case of disaster striking. Steven F. Sutherland.
For my small business customers, I use these as centralized file servers for small offices. However you use it, I have to point out something that another 1 star reviewer complained about. They had lost everything due to a hack. First, do NOT expose this product to the internet. Any device exposed to the internet is at risk. Second, you must have backup if you store your data on these devices. It should be something off site - cloud backup. Even if you use RAID (redundant) disk drives, it is NOT a substitute for having a backup of your data somewhere that is NOT on this device. I would say the same thing if you store your data on your PC.
Finally, I would caution people that these devices are much more complicated than setting up your average router. The user interface is very easy, but there are lots of things to configure - network config/users/passwords/shared folders/anti-virus/backup, etc. You can even run a virtual PC inside this device - Windows or Linux.
Update: After 2 months, I found one problem that I do not like. With the cheap PCIe card for NVMe m.2 memory, I can only use the SSD as cache memory. I can not do Qtier. It is also not good as cache memory for write cache as it could fail before writing it to my HDD. This makes me believe now Synology might be a better option if you really want to have m.2 SSD because it is built-in for Synology NAS. Qnap is not cheaper if I need to buy the RAID PCIe card. Well, I guess I am still getting cheap security camera licenses. For this reason, I took out one star.
I also added the QNAP pci-e wireless card to the NAS. It's very nice to be able to place the NAS anywhere in the home. I don't have an AX router but do have an AC one that reports a rock steady 866 Mbps. Quite adequate for my needs.
I don't use the HDMI port but may some day. I use the NAS mainly as a file server and music host for my ripped audio collection.
I run Logitech Media Server software on it to serve a few Squeezeboxes around my home. The performance is quick and stable. Running the new QTS 5.0.0 software.
I've been through a handful of QNAP NAS devices over the years. They have come a long way, the software packages keep getting better. No complaints at all.
Top reviews from other countries
Plenty of hardware (added another 8 GB of RAM) solid and stable software. Plus lots of features. Match better than my old Asustor.
Only downsize - it's plastic. But I did not expect anything better at this price range
très performant et facile à utiliser
