Great Product, Great Value! - the bad reviews are just wrong

This product works just fine and the many bad reviews are making incorrect statements while touting a virtually identical product from another company.. The other product also works just fine.

I own both of the products and they're on my desk while this review is being written. There are no significant issues/problems with either.

No question - the TC version is a MUCH BETTER VALUE!

1 - CABLE LENGTH - The TC lightening cable is not 2 inches. It's actually 22".. this TC cable is the ONLY cable that's shorter than the other product which is 24" for the lightening cable. The other product midi cables are very short 9" whereas the TC midi cables are FIVE FEET!!! (5 feet is a usable length for the TC version whereas the other clone using 9" cables requires an extension for practical application). All the other cables are within 10% in length and no problems with any of the cables for either product.

2 - The main interface connector IS NOT PROPRIETARY - it's the MOST COMMON micro USB connector for small devices ever made (except for the flatter micro usb that came out years later for some cell phones). The other product has a round 6 pin connector, which is more difficult to find and more expensive - but this is not really a problem or big deal for either product.

3 - Functionality is identical in everything tried, which includes 2 mics, with and without phantom power, guitar 1/4" input, and midi input.

4 - the devices are made in the same assembly plant, and even use 100% identical packaging (except for the product name on the box).

5 - If the prices were equal, I'd prefer the other product because it has a rubbery type coating that's easier to grab - that's it. But, the TC version (same product) costs much less and I could put a 2 cent rubber band around it to get the rubbery feel if it were that important.

Think about the purpose and role of this device. It's not to replace my $3200 Apollo rack, or even my $1200 Apollo Twin.. the purpose is a light weight, quick and easy interface to an iPad to capture basic input signals for a reference or demo to throw down while you're on the go (traveling on a plane or train or backpacking) Both products work just fine for this.

6 - Software - TC WINS!! The software in the other product looks impressive until you try to use it and find that every click requires an upgrade or purchase (virtually unusable worthless software unless paying). To get the other guy to work, plan on spending double or triple the cost of the interface. So, for my $400 iPad (costco special), the other product route would cost about $600 to get the interface and software versions that work.

TC - the software works and doesn't try to force a purchase to be able to do basic stuff. But the software issue isn't really a problem because you'll probably get something different anyway. Cubase works well for low cost.

So, the software point is somewhat of a red-herring in that it doesn't really matter what either company provided because they're not locked to either product and either could use the other software..

** PRICE **
It's possible that the MUCH HIGHER PRICE of the other product could reflect better electronics, mic-pres, etc.. but haven't noticed any difference in audio quality.. and it's really not worth the time to do this level of analysis. We're not comparing an SSL rack pres with an Apollo rack of pres (that analysis was worthwhile).

For the price point of this product, it does not make sense to even take the time to write a review.. but it bugs me to see identical products and one of them being unfairly slammed (when I own both and know the slams are unjustified).

If the price were equal, I would take the other product just for the physical feel of the thin rubbery layer exterior. But, there's a really big difference in the prices and I feel ripped off by having purchased the other product at such a higher price compared to the TC.

If buying only one of the two products again today, no question - Get the TC Electronic version!

Works with Pixel 6a and N-Track

I was looking for a decent low power interface for my pixel 6a. This works great so far with n-track for android.
Quiet, low latency interface. USB to the pixel's USB C adapter (which came with the phone). Price was right. I think the main USB mini cable that comes with it needs to be a 10 pin version, if you ever need to replace it, per the quick start guide.

I seriously don't understand these reviews...

A lot of ppl dogging this device. I bought it for field recording, and while I haven't spent a lot of time with it, the first time I plugged it in to my iPad Pro 10.5 w/iOS 15.7, it worked flawlessly. Good strong signal from SM58 mic, direct monitoring worked, recorded tracks with Cubasis 2 and it worked great. Crazy good buy.

Great option for Recording with iPhone

I am using this to broadcast on Facebook Live with an iPhone and wireless lapel microphone. Works great, easy to use, and has good audio quality.

Great unit for recording video for church

I bought this because my older (nameless) unit stopped working after only a few months. This unit so far has worked great. I use it with 2 condensor mics to record and video our church service. The cable to the iPad is a little short, but works fine. I have to boost the signal for one of the mics (both are phantom powered) and they sound great. Using a Behringer B2 and a Samson C1 mics.
