I purchased this at the beginning of the pandemic to help keep me sane by doing indoor (technically backyard) exercise. I keep the trainer in a cycleops bag outdoors underneath a roof of sorts and it’s kept dry through plenty of rainy days. I highly recommend this trainer especially at this price. I use this with my road bike and it has a smooth resistance that gives me plenty of challenge on the harder gears.
I have never used apps and am not really interested in bike training apps, but apparently there are versions (this one and the m2) that are also compatible with apps such as Zwift. They are priced between 200$ – 250$, also on amazon.
For 185$ this trainer is plenty useful even with out the apps.
