Update: I think it's really kind of disgusting the way companies like Utz and Mac's are now "bleeding" the helI out of their keto and low carb supporters who have been supporting them for years...long before the keto craze.
I understand supply and demand economics but damn! It's disgusting greed. Sam's Club stopped carrying Utz pork rinds where I live. Now I see why. Members won't pay this. Probably under a year ago, you could get a barrel twice this size way under 10 bucks...(about $6.85) and then the keto craze went mainstream. Same with Mac's pork rinds. You could get twice the amount for the price. Good luck if you are trying to feed a family now and have healthy, low carb protein options for snacks or as a "bread crumbs " alternative in keto or low carb recipes. I want convenience like everyone else but I may have to suck it up and start frying my own rinds. I live in the Southeastern US where pork is king and where there are still local grocers/butchers that sell the raw pork skin that you can fry yourself. We should all protest this ridiculous level of inflation and greed and start taking our deep fryers outside to Plug into the outdoor socket or light the propane under our turkey fryers and make our own pork rinds.
Original review: I guess everybody who has ever done a low-carb or keto diet plan is aware of how many uses you can get out of simple pork rinds and there are many. I've used them as coating for chicken cordon bleu. I've used them as a simple and quick snack to satisfy a craving for "chips" and dip. There's even a recipe were you coat them in sugar substitute like Swerve confectioners sugar and roll them in cinnamon and melted butter to create something that tastes sort of like a churro. I like the Utz brand for the freshness and the price. If you go to the grocery store, you will find the baconettes brand of pork rinds for about $2 for a bag that only holds maybe 3 oz of rinds. If you are lucky enough to live near a Sam's Club, you can get a huge 18-oz of barrel of Utz pork rinds for around 6 bucks. You can't beat that price! The same quantity of baconettes would cost you $10. Plus they would not be in a "stay fresh" Barrel that you can repurpose for other things. They would be in a cheesy little cellophane bag that rips and tears when you try to fold it and close it. I've given a bunch of the empty barrels to my dad to use in his garage to organize things like nails and small hand tools. This size on Amazon is not as big as the size that they sell in Sam's; therefore, the cost savings isn't as pronounced but since Sam's Club is an hour away from me, I love that I can get on Amazon and order these and have them shipped directly to me in two days and with no shipping costs since am a Prime member. I try not to run out, but since I am on a keto diet plan, I use them a lot. Mostly for breading and recipes but also for snacks when I need a little extra protein. Really love them!

I was SO excited to order these & have them delivered! But what a HUGE disappointment they turned out to be! YUCKY! They are so AWFUL! There is absolutely no redeeming quality I can comment on! They are super oily! Keep in mind, I love checahrones & eat them all the time! So it’s not that I didn’t know what to expect! They are just SO greasy & taste greasy accordingly!
Yet, get this….they were getting stuck in my throat because they were SO hard to swallow! How in the world can they be THIS greasy & yet be SO dry, that you can’t freakin’ swallow them?! Ewww…they are just terrible!
Oh ya, & they are supposed to be ‘barbecue’ flavored! BUT, I literally CANNOT taste any BBQ flavoring on them at all! It was the fact that they were BBQ flavored which made me want to purchase them in the first place! BUT....they have ZERO flavor, with the exception of the greasy taste to them! UGH….they’re just AWFUL! I absolutely HATE them! I literally cannot find one redeeming good quality about them! I wish someone had warned me! Oh ya…& last but not least, the barrel or (jar if you will) was definitely NOT as big as it looks in the picture on the Amazon website! The picture makes the product look extremely plentiful! BUT…what came was definitely NOT how the picture on Amazon made it look! Yep, I would definitely NOT recommend this product, not even to my worst enemy! I put a piece in my mouth & literally spit it out! I thought there was just something wrong with the piece I tried to eat. So then I tried eating another piece, & NOPE, it was NOT only NOT better than the first piece I tried! It was disgusting! This product is NOT good & I definitely would discourage you from buying it!! Unless of course you love eating greasy food & oil is your jam! Because this isn’t just greasy, it’s flavorless except the oily flavor! There is absolutely ZERO BBQ Flavoring on these pig skins!

I hope I’ve properly set your expectations! I just wish someone would have given me this heads up too, because I never would have gotten my hopes up & wasted my money on this lousy product! They are just totally GROSS!!!!!!!! Barf! :(
