We've had this sprayer for around a year and had only used it on small projects. That is until we had a lot of extra time at home and decided to tackle painting our kitchen cabinets. And let me make one thing very clear, the only thing I know about painting was picked up by a handful of YouTube videos. We focused on the edges first and then followed with steady 50% overlapping sweeping passes across the big surfaces. I can't tell you if this is correct or not, but our results were outstanding. absolutely! It also comes with a little viscosity cup, which I'll admit, I lost a while back but we ran all our primer and paint through these paint strainers to make sure there was no clumps and everything sprayed great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PA09V0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1XMA Header ImageTCP Global 50 Pack of Paint Strainers with Fine 190 Micron Filter Tips - Premium"Pure Blue" Ultra-Flow Blue Nylon Mesh - Cone Paint Filter Screenamazon.comNow, before jumping right into to slinging paint, my advice would be to go WAY over the top (literally) with your masking and paint booth. Spend the time now, you'll be thankful later. And make sure to wear breathing and eye protection. My wife and I each have one of these by 3M respirators https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009F5KDS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and they work perfectly, while not making us overheat like our N95 masks sometimes do. Very reasonable cost when we bought them, but with COVID who knows?Ok, so we removed the doors and set up craft paper covered folding tables inside a plastic sheet room in the garage. Although I wish we would've span it over the top also because the overspray gets everywhere! Also, plan ahead because depending on the size of your kitchen, you're going to need a lot of space, or plan to paint in shifts, but we didn't want to be moving them around too much. Also, get a bunch of the little table tents to prop the panels up off the surface, so you can get a good coat all around. **one more tip for the doors - do the backs first. We primed first, but when it came to paint, we did two coats to the backs until we were happy, then flipped them all and hit the fronts with three coats and are very happy. NO BRUSH STROKES! The main reason for doing backs first is that even if the tents happen to leave small tick marks in the surface, it's on the back side and. you'll never see or focus on them.**Now back inside to do the frames. We went to the trouble of masking the inside of the cabinets and the best results I had was cutting cardboard to just bigger than each opening. I then cut a hole big enough to reach through and tape them in place. The hole is easy to cover back up before spraying. < Not sure that makes sense, but stick with me. With all of that effort yielded, we did get the results we were hoping for, but I think that if I had it to do over again, I would have bought more primer & paint and just shot them inside and out. Also, take EVERYTHING out of the cabinets...no matter which process you follow. Much less stressful, trust me. Truthfully though, this sprayer is so easy to use, and the only odd thing I ran into, was when painting over my head for extended periods of time, I opened the paint reservoir and turned the straw 180 degrees so that it pulled paint from the back instead of front. That'll make more sense when you start working with it. Hope this helps somebody.

I bought this sprayer because I got tired of painting my interior doors. It was taking 2-3 hours to paint a single 6-panel door both sides, two coats. After two doors I ordered this sprayer to finish the remaining nine doors. I pulled two doors down to test with and set them outside, leaned against a stand in my grass on cardboard (in case of over spray) then commenced to paint my first two doors. Gun worked excellent, took about 3-4 minutes to paint one side and one coat was sufficient. I used the higher end Behr paint which is pretty thick so I thinned it just a bit. The sprayer came with a tool to test the thickness of the paint, I'd suggest using that if you are not familiar with spray guns and paint. Saves some headaches from paint not spraying right if you suspect you are using thicker paint. The doors were dry to touch inside of 10 minutes (weather was in the 70's, partly sunny outside) so I flipped the doors and finished them. Took about 45 minutes to do what otherwise would take 4-5 hours and that included drying time and taking them down plus re-installing them.

My only criticisms would be that your project has to be fairly vertical. If you can move the item being painted then it's easy, but if it's immobile like a deck or stationary surface then you'll have trouble. This sprayer can only tilt 45% off of vertical, so a deck surface would be too far horizontal but the side of a deck would be easy. Second, it covers nicely in one coat and without streaks but it does spray a lot of paint to do so. It seems to go through about 15-20% more paint when compared to the same job with a brush, though it's well worth the trade considering the time it saves. Lastly the over spray was a little much, if you engage the trigger about half way and take your time painting, you get very little over spray. If you follow the instructions and adjust for full air flow, it will cover your project much quicker but create a decent amount of over spray, so be careful if there is a bit of wind.

Clean up is a breeze. My previous sprayers cost twice as much and were a pain to clean, even easy to lose small parts. This sprayer is quick to take apart the nozzle and wash. Barely anything to clean up since I peeled the small paint film away from the nozzle while I was painting. It just took a moment to fill the tank with water and spray the water out the nozzle like it was paint, then remove the nozzle and clean it.

Bonus: the instructions say to use it like an air gun to clean out keyboards and computer parts. I happen to be in IT so I do use it to clean out servers and desktops. It's mush easier than lugging around an air compressor and far more powerful than a can of air.

Conclusion: If this was a $200 sprayer it would still be about 4 stars but since it's closer to $60 it's definitely 5 stars. It's a bit quieter than other sprayers I have used and even has advantages over sprayers I use on my air compressor since there is no noisy compressor and the air never runs out because it's on electric plus there is no moisture buildup to cause spitting. Even with several moisture traps on my air lines, my other sprayers have issues once the heats after long spray projects. This electric sprayer is a great value and has effortless performance!

Size: Finish MaxPattern Name: SprayerVerified Purchase
I recently bought this sprayer because I'm refinishing my oak cabinets. We're painting them and a brush and roller was out of the question for the doors and drawers. I've never used a sprayer before and was ready to drop $200-300 on a good one since I'm a perfectionist. Decided to give this one a chance due to the reviews and great price. I'm very happy I did! I'll try to outline all the details and what I've learned here in hopes it helps someone else.

My skill level:
About a year of DIY home projects learning as I go. First time using a paint sprayer.

The project:
Refinish existing oak kitchen cabinets with paint.

Prep:
I sanded down the cabinets to scuff up existing paint and sheen. I primed with Kilz oil based original primer. I used a latex primer first but being in a kitchen, some staining started showing through. I de-greased as best I could and the Kilz worked really well and immediately blocked everything. I then sanded down the Kilz (2 coats of primer) for a smooth finish. Tack cloth to remove the powder/dust. A great paint job requires great prep. Bad paint results are most likely due to bad prep.

Type of paint I used:
SW Pro-Classic semi-gloss. (Latex based)

The sprayer:
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! And then follow them! I think that's the reason people may not get the most from the sprayer. It comes ready to use all you have to do is fill in the paint. I filled the container with paint then diluted with water per instructions. It says to use the viscosity cup but I felt like I shouldn't water it down too much so I kind of just kept adding water until I felt like the sprayer sprayed a good consistency (I know, I just told you to follow instructions). The less diluted the paint is, the less paint will spray out. The sprayer can spray horizontal, vertical, or in a cone with an easy setting. It also has a little nozzle thingy on the handle that increases or decreases flow. It's electric and plugs into the wall or extension cord. No air compressor required.

Spraying:
I set the the doors up on buckets in my spray area (bunch of plastic hung up to enclose an area). I then sprayed about 5-10 inches away in slow, deliberate, steady, sweeping motions. You don't want to bend your wrist. Aim straight, and just move steadily left to right (or up and down). Don't stop spraying until your hand passes the project (again, this is all in the instructions!). Overlap each spray a bit. For the doors, I did a pass in one direction across the door, and a second pass the other direction. I wiped off the tip every couple doors because paint builds up and can affect the spray. I had to paint about 20 doors. One container of paint was able to generously cover about 14 doors (one side) then I had to refill just a little.

Clean up:
Follow the instructions to a T for clean up. Clean the sprayer immediately after use to avoid paint drying inside. Took me a while the first time but about 20 mins after that. I wouldn't use this with oil based paints just because clean up for oil paints is awful.

Results:
Very happy with the results. The doors look fantastic and are a pretty smooth finish. The paint I used is self-leveling and did a fantastic job evening out without any additives. There are no indications of bad spray pattern or splotches. I've never used a sprayer before so I don't have any reference for a more expensive one, but I feel like this one is pretty forgiving and the results look great. The key was to just keep a steady, consistent spray going. I did two heavy coats and the coverage is excellent.

Final thoughts:
I'm sure a $300 sprayer is better in some way, but I'm a homeowner who just wants to do a few projects here and there. I don't use this for professional work. The results are fantastic and even better than I imagined. Lots of compliments on the job so far. I think for the money it's worth you give this a try if you're just doing some projects around the house!

I purchased this sprayer because after a lot of research, it seemed like this was low maintenance and I wouldn't have to thin all my paint (based on description & reviews). Not true! It was a bit of work to figure out the proper viscosity for the paint. It does come with a viscosity cup, but it's still a game of trial and error! I would also say that the cleaning of the sprayer involves a bit more than just filling it with warm soapy water and running it! You must completely disassemble the unit and ensure no paint is still around the seals, etc. I was using a high quality white latex (water based) paint, so I think that's just normal for this unit. Overall though, the sprayer works well and makes the job a bit easier. I don't know if I saved any time, but I was painting shiplap, and it is difficult to get in between the boards with a brush, so it was worth it! There is quite a lot of over spray, so plan accordingly and tape off well. I also had to clean the nozzle in-between each filling of the paint cup. But in all fairness, it was over 100 degrees and I was painting outside, so the paint was drying really fast! Not a bad little unit for DIY projects!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good performance at a good price

I used this to prime and paint a wall unit I'm making out of MDF. It worked very well and gave me a smooth even finish using a latex, eggshell finish paint. As long as you read and follow the instructions, thin your paint accordingly and clean the sprayer thoroughly immediately after use, you should have few issues. Reviews have complained that it's tough to clean, but I didn't find that to be the case; I find rollers, brushes and traysore work. Just don't let the paint dry in the sprayer.

There are three different spray patterns and you can adjust the flow of paint. I recommend practicing with water first, before adding paint, and on some scrap material with paint before committing to your first coat. There is a bit of a learning curve to this sprayer, but I've found that the key is to keep the spray moving at an even, consistent distance. Note also that it does produce some over spray, especially in an enclosed space so protect surrounding areas, cover up and wear a respirator or at least a mask. I had no issues with this sprayer. So far it seems like a quality product, and I am pleased with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not UK compatible

I excitedly ordered the HomeRight Finish Max sprayer not realising that this is manufactured for the US. The product image clearly shows the US socket, but I assumed that as it was being advertised in the UK it would be a UK compatible item. It is not. The cable is only about 20 inches long, which means that I would also have to purchase a US to UK Plug adapter and then a long length extention cable to make it work, besides the point that the voltage would be different. I contacted the seller who arranged the return.

While being a great product, the seller was confusing to work with. But it's been a few years since ordered, but Amazon wants the review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job just fine

It takes some getting used to-proper paint viscosity and technique matter. You can cover a lot of area when you have these sorted but that takes time and it can be a little frustrating. There will be a learning curve with any sprayer though. If you have the paint coming out to thin and fast for how quick you want to move it will puddle. If the paint is to thick it will splatter and may not come out at all. Read the instructions on getting the proper paint viscosity rather than trial and error. It’s not that easy to clean but cleaning up after any paint job is not something I enjoy and is never “easy.” Pretty good bang for your buck though I would buy it again. If you have to purchased brushes and/or rollers and trays it makes sense to buy this at the price point.
