I don’t think there is sales tax (wasn’t for me in IL) besides some states maybe.
I’ve been building a Ryzen gaming PC and have been doing countless hours of research on compatible RAM deals since RAM speed matters to Ryzen CPU performance.
I have decided to go with the POTENZA model for the following reasons:

  1. It is on Gigabyte’s b350 gaming 3 motherboard QVL list so out of the box 2933 MHz speeds should be easily to achieve.
  2. After doing some research, it is good at overclocking. I was initially looking for 3200 Mhz ram but they are priced too high right now. I will attempt to OC and run this at 3200 Mhz.
  • The Super Luce model is a viable option if aesthetics a primary factor and overclocking isn’t a concern (seem to be poor at overclocking). The Super Luce model has also been tested on running full speed on my Gaming 3 MB here :

Our GeIL 2x8GB Super Luce DDR4-3000 offers up some very rare traits: it’s made up of single-sided, single-rank DDR4-3000 8GB sticks. On the Ryzen platform, these characteristics are prized, because the memory controller is unusually sensitive to extra loads put on it. We knew going in that Ryzen platform has limited multipliers available to users, and 3000MHz isn’t one of them. Our Gigabyte motherboard automatically parsed the XMP Profile (which is an Intel standard) to set our DDR4-3000 CAS 15 RAM to DDR4-2933 CAS 16. That was good enough for us, and we left it as is without further tweaking.

Not the cheapest RAM, but cheapest @ this speed that I have seen in the past 2 weeks.
