If anyone is thinking about saving some money on their wireless service, here’s a great way to start by combining a couple of offers that Cricket Wireless is offering.
Offer 1 (Best Buy): Save 20% off any refill card with purchase of device or SIM card.

Offer 2 (Cricket): Get 4 lines of unlimited data for $100/mo. This is a limited time promo on the ‘Unlimited 2′ plan that offers Unlimited 4G LTE.

Notes:
- Cricket is owned by AT&T and has a good LTE network that covers 99% of Americans
- The ‘Unlimited 2′ plan caps LTE speeds at 3mbps and video streaming is at DVD quality
- After 23 GB of use (individual lines) speeds may be reduced during times of congestion
- The ‘Unlimited 2′ plan offers free calling to and from Canada and Mexico, and also includes international text messages to over 38 countries.

Here’s how the purchase would work if you had 4 unlocked phones to bring to Cricket:
Purchase the $3.99 BYOD SIM kit and a $60 refill card from the site listed above. Total should be $51.99 in your cart. Sales tax will vary by state. OR, DE, MT, NH, and AK should have no sales tax.
Rinse and repeat 5 times. You will likely have to place separate orders.
Total paid should be $51.99+tax x 5 = $259.95+ Tax
You will have:
- 4 SIM cards for your unlocked phones + an extra SIM card if you ever need it.
- $300 total in refill cards which will be good for 3 months of service on the $100/mo. plan.
The first 3 months will essentially cost you $87/mo+sales tax, and going forward your monthly bill for 4 lines is only $100 for UNLIMITED data on all lines on a network that actually works.
I welcome constructive discussion, but remind all that network quality is subjective. However the following should be considered fact:
- In general, AT&T’s network is broader in LTE coverage than both T-Mobile and Sprint.
- Verizon has a larger network than Cricket, but prepaid/no-contract prices are considerably more expensive than Cricket.
- Many MVNO’s offer similar or even cheaper pricing, but offer little to no customer service. Cricket ranks ahead of all Tracfone brands on JD Power’s most recent customer service rankings including Total Wireless, Straight Talk, and Tracfone.
- Most prepaid/non-contract carriers stream video at DVD quality but hide the terms in the fine print. Boost, MetroPCS, StraightTalk to name the major players.
