Decent beginners road bike, shipped $283.72

As penance for posting a $2400 Pinarello bicycle (and why has this NOT made front page with 72 thumbs up???!!!)
Here is a pretty decent no-name bike being sold by a reputable seller.
https://www.randombikeparts.com/s…Sundeal+R7
Random Bike has been on eBay for at least a decade, and, IIRC, is associated with a big bicycle shop in Minnesota. I’ve gotten some great deals on parts from them, but have never bought a complete bike. I saw this Sundeal bike and it looks like a pretty good deal for a beginner or a teenager.
Sundeal?? Really? Ok, I have never heard of Sundeal as a brand of bicycle. Sundeal sounds like one of those kooky names Chinese manufacturers make up to market their products in English speaking countries. Sort of like my ‘Oscaurt" backpack bought on Amazon (it’s a great backpack even if the name is idiotic!). Why the Chinese don’t hire some Americans to name their products is beyond me. Anyway, back to this bike…
First off, it has a decent Shimano Tourney 7 speed drive train with shifters integrated into the brake levers. That’s a big deal. https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-To…B00GQCC9A0 Almost every other cheap bike, like the crappy GMC Denali, uses butchered mountain bike shifters stuck up near the steering stem – total crap (IMO). Now a 2×7 speed drive train is really old school, but should actually work quite fine for someone who wants a new bike and wants to go cheap. And don’t diss those shifters either. Design-wise, they look like antique Shimano Dura Ace shifters.
What about the rest of the bike? Ok, aluminum frame (standard) and most frames come out of about 4 factories in China, so I’m sure quality wise this is fine. Aluminum fork is a bit uncommon, but it’s lighter than steel and cheaper than carbon. Good compromise. My wife’s Focus (German brand) CX bike has an aluminum fork – no problems. Square taper crank is very old school – but that’s what bicycling used for 100 years, and very fine bikes of old had them. Wheels are no name brand Chinese manufacture, and I’ll bet the difference between them and what you’d get on a $500 Fuji or Giant bicycle is zilch except the stickers. The only outliers are the no-name crank and the brakes. The chainwheels might be steel, or maybe not, but the crank itself is probably aluminum (because they almost all are nowadays). The brakes look like unbranded Tektros using cast aluminum which is far better than the crappy stamped steel brakes you see on most Walmart bikes.
This bike makes sense if you have the mechanical skills to assemble it yourself. Not hard, but it does take some knowledge. The wheels will definitely have to be trued up, shifters adjusted, etc. If you can’t do these things or don’t want to learn, go to a bike shop and expect to pay at least $400 for an assembled bike, probably more like $500. (And forget Wlamart or Target bikes. It may be assembled for you, but that doesn’t mean it’s assembled correctly!)
Claimed weight is under 23 lbs, no lightweight, but no hulking whale either. In fact, in the 1970 to 1980 timeframe, that would have been a decently light bicycle, and it still is fine for this price point. Full specs below.
