I own several Fluke multimeters: from my old trusty Fluke 12, 36 (DC clamp), 112, 117 to my favorite 87V. They are all wonderful to work with. I also have a few HF (free), the $10 Craftsman, an autoranging Craftsman, and some others.
Whenever the $10 manual Craftsman hits FP, I see folks getting hugely excited and opinionated. One would think they’ve found the Holy Grail of multimeters. They pulverize anyone who dares to compare that to the free HF. That’s all good fun. However, if one wants to get a taste of what a good meter is like, get a Fluke. The cheapest is from China, brand new for $40 shipped. Once you go Fluke, you never get back.
Suggestion: put 2x lithium AAAs in it and never worry about leakage.
