This is YMMV, but I believe easy to replicate.
Here are the steps I took:
1. Call Canon sales:1-800-385-2155, and say you want to purchase the EOS-R, and ask about the customer loyalty program.
2. You need to currently own a Canon camera and supply them with the serial number. The camera needs to be defective or at end of life.
3. I was given 20% off of the Eos-R sale price of $1,799. Not the base price, but the actual Black Friday sale price. The advertised discount is 15% off, but I didn’t ask why I received 20%.
4. You must purchase over the phone and with a credit card.
This is a huge steal over buying gray market and needing to buy an adapter and extended warranty separately.
