I own two of these X12 subs. Placed in opposite ends of my listening room, I get very smooth, powerful bass. Adding a second identical sub (regardless of brand or type) only gives you 3 dB more volume than having one sub, but the big improvement is that two subs do a much better job of mitigating peaks and nulls in the room. Even if you have a receiver with room correction software, you have to play around with the placement of any sub to get the optimal sound. And that brings me to one of the great things about this sub: The looks. It looks almost like a piece of modern furniture. Some people even say it looks like a coffee table of sorts. I’ve included a picture so you can judge for yourself. The point is: You can leave it sitting out in plain sight, more so than most subs, which will give you a lot more flexibility of placement.

This sub gets excellent reviews, but not a lot of love on slickdeals because the price isn’t usually anywhere near this good. But at $999 shipped, it’s quite competitive.
