  • $1.70 for a game that has a main campaign that averages 14.5 hours of content according to HLTB, almost 3x that if you’re a completionist.
  • This deal comes from an official retailer
  • Interesting pick for fans of the souls-like genre

One of the first games to sprout from the souls-like genre in early gen, Lords of the Fallen try to replicate From Software’s world building and gameplay mechanics and while it might not success in every level, it’s still a solid experience for fans of the genre, especially if you liked the next game from the same developers, The Surge.
Lords of the Fallen was one of the first souls-likes and it shows in plenty of ways, but it also has some elements borrowed from Euro RPGs, making up for an interesting mix. Instead of the sense of exploration Dark Souls gives you, LotF instead is paced in small areas and corridors, all really well designed, mind you, but still corridors. The atmosphere isn’t mysterious like DS which slowly brings pieces of lore to the player through descriptions, but the sense of oppression and darkness is right there. LotF then shines in its weighty combat. If you miss that feeling from Demon’s Souls, LotF has something close to that on PC.
For $1.70 (no extra fees), it’s definitely a good pick if you’re looking into diving more into the souls-like genre.
