Shipping is a tad steep at $9.95, but gets cheaper per unit if you buy multiples (and of course you would normally need two of these unless one of your devices already has bluetooth).
There’s tons of info on the site about it’s features, but IMHO it’s superior to other MIDI-over-Bluetooth devices in a few respects:
- It does point-to-point (PTP) Bluetooth WITHOUT requiring an IOS or Android app during use. NOTE: There is an IOS/Android App to configure advanced features of the adaptor (or to upgrade firmware) but not required during usage.
- Can handle upto a 4-to-1 connection so you can transmit from one WIDI Jack to upto 4 others. (Basically what is referred to as a Star Network configuration).
- Uses Bluetooth 5.0 Low power (BLE 5.0) vs. Most existing MIDI-over-BT adaptors use BLE 4.2
- Latency is extremely low (3ms) and is reportedly undetectable by prototype reviewers (though alot depends on what the latency is of your devices/instruments)…there are several youtube videos are out there.
- While most (all?) other MIDI bluetooth adaptors draw power from the MIDI port, this one can also optionally be powered via Micro USB, so it works on instruments that do not have a powered MIDI PORT.
- It is firmware updatable and the company has a history of improving the firmware with new features (on their previous device; the WIDI Master).
- There are a number of different cable connections you can choose one to include with each WIDI Jack (MIDI-DIN, 3.5mm stereo, etc). You get pick which one you want included, and others are $10 more.
- BTW, it’s compatible with Yamaha and most other MIDI over bluetooth devices.
- Estimated Release Date: End of January 2021 (in about a month).
